Spitefulnes 2 theater director Andy Serkis says the motion-picture show isn't in the MCU
Venom 2 director Andy Serkis has confirmed that the Sony sequel is in its own universe – meaning it's not part of the MCU.
"Obviously, there are links between Spitefulnes and Spider-Man and the Marvel Universe and the Spider-Man level," Serkis told IGN. "But in this, we'Ra treating this a lot as it's his ain world. The Venom floor is his possess earthly concern."
In the movie's recently released first trailer, a quickly shot of a Daily Bugleweed newspaper seemed to propose a association to Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies. There's been plenteousness of speculation lately that the MCU's Wanderer-Man 3, officially titled Spider-Man: No Way Home, will work a live-action Spider-verse into roleplay: an unconfirmed report claims Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield testament be endorse as their respective versions of the web-slinging hero, Alfred Molina confirmed he's reverting as Doc Ock, and Jamie Foxx is reportedly reprising his character of Electro. Other Sony superhero movie, Morbius, also has an apparent link to the MCU.
"There are nods and picayune moments, just like this newspaper, the Daily Bugle naturally, simply on the whole he's unmindful," Serkis continued. "They are unaware, at this point, of other characters like Spider-Man. So, that's the fashio we've chosen to play this particular episode of the movie, but, fortunate, we'll wait and come across. We'll imag what little things you can pick off out of it."
From this, it sounds like Venom 2 will include some fun East wind eggs – but won't have a connection to a wider universe.
