Does a barista clean bathrooms?
How long is the hiring process?
I have above average quals for the entry-level barista position, but I don't want to run anything all the same, I just need more plusses in my depository financial institution account, simply if I do desire to exist an banana shift director eventually, is the pay jump worth it?
Honestly im pretty certain id be hired unless I bomb the interview, Im a veteran, was a squad lead at a at present defunct big box retailer, and used to deliver pizzas dorsum in the twenty-four hours.
im only looking to piece of work weekends and nights on weekdays, then I call up im desirable, also im bilingual

People tell you what coffee they want, y'all band em up, brand it, and hand it over.
A lot of cleaning on dark shifts, similar wiping machines and counters, mopping.

For the bathroom thing depends on the location I think. In an isolated Starbucks and then probably but the i I worked at was inside a bookstore and the bathroom was technically theirs so we never had to.
ok, thanks. hmm, might simply accept to suck it upward, nearest Starbucks to me is a standalone

How dressed up would I need to exist for a Starbucks interview?

You'll clean the bath if it's an bodily Starbucks stores.
It took me ii weeks to remember the drinks but 3 months to piece of work comfortable.
It's a challenging job and in my opinion isn't worth the pay just it definitely help me become better at multitasking and a hard worker.

Gave good pay and benefits though. Got health care, PTO, 401k. Complimentary drinks at any Peet's anywhere. Was nice for a service chore

If information technology's Starbucks, y'all'll be doing a lot of multi-tasking.You'll clean the bathroom if information technology'south an actual Starbucks stores.
Information technology took me two weeks to remember the drinks but iii months to work comfortable.
It'south a challenging chore and in my stance isn't worth the pay but it definitely help me get ameliorate at multitasking and a hard worker.
The pay doesn't bother me much, better than the zero dollars I make every weekend not doing shit
Merely damn I hate cleaning
I loved beingness a cashier dorsum in the day just crusade as a loner with social anxiety I feel similar it helped me go more comfortable around people

Work in a shop that doesn't have a drive-thru, if possible. Tips at drive-thru stores are bad, and dealing with people through an intercom system in general is absolutely irritating.
Exist ready to spend some of your own personal fourth dimension learning drink recipes. The faster you can go upwards to speed on the bar, the bigger asset you lot will be. Unremarkably new hires but get thrown on annals or cleaning/stocking duty.

If you're closings Cashier would exist the one to make clean the bathroom and anteroom. The pay doesn't carp me much, better than the zero dollars I make every weekend not doing shitOnly damn I hate cleaning
I loved being a cashier back in the day just cause as a loner with social anxiety I feel like it helped me get more comfortable around people
The baristas would be cleaning their stations so the espresso machines, fridges and walls.
The kickoff matter you'll be doing if you're working would be the guy that stocks up everything and cleans the coffee machines and the cashier.
you'll be cleaning more if you're closing than opening.
And yea the job definitely help me get better at socializing also.

The health benefits are dainty if you tin can become them. You must work 20 hours a calendar week or more to qualify.
They'll endeavor to indoctrinate you with the "third place" messaging of connecting to your customers. They actually hammer down on making them feel welcome.
Depending on which place you lot piece of work, if you don't accept the drinks memorized after your training is over, you may not become put on beverage bar for awhile.
Most customers don't know the sizes and specials. Brand sure you iterate those.
Most of the work is like whatsoever other retail job though.

Really long and drawn out, but that was because my manager was on holiday halfway through it and had a team conference likewise. How was the hiring procedure?
I'd presume that after this last event they just had all the managers should be dorsum now.
Its pretty easy too, but as I was a daily regular the hiring manager already knew who I was.

Also this.Current Barista here. The health benefits are nice if y'all can get them. Yous must work 20 hours a week or more to authorize.

The job has a steep learning curve if y'all aren't familiar with Buffet drinks. For spare cash, the fourth dimension investment to go into it is pretty good. Plus they have wellness insurance even if part time.

Also the lattes that are flavoured all follow some pretty simple rules. It seems intimidating at first only it's really not that bad. Simply make certain yous acquire what a real espresso macchiato is since that seemed to exist a struggle for most of my one-time coworkers.

My GF worked at a mall Starbucks and she had to beg to go more than than 12 hours a week. If all you want is a second job that'south probably fine though.

The best thing I tin say is that I fabricated good friends in that location and I learned how to rethink near possibly existence a wiggle to people in the retail and service industry. I liked it.

You'll be cleaning everything; about jobs at that level are combinations of the actual job duties as well as cleaning and assorted administrative things. The bathrooms honestly don't tend to be too bad at almost locations. My store was a particularly hectic one, beingness in the heart of a bar district downtown in a college boondocks, just the other stores I've been to accept mostly seemed calmer. The majority of the bathroom cleaning is but going in, wiping downward the mirrors and sink, and doing a super-quick scrub of the toilet to proceed it clean. Otherwise, you lot'll accept to wipe down counters, clean dishes, and sweep. You won't necessarily exist stuck doing bathrooms/mopping all the time, though--you rotate things.
Hiring will depend on the store, honestly. My hiring took... maybe a month or and so? It'due south usually only a week or two from the interview to knowing y'all have the position, but information technology does depend.
I tin't speak on exact numbers for shift supervisor pay, seeing as I never got to that level, but iirc the increase was about a dollar or so? It'll really depend on the store, though, whether it's worth it or not to go that far. If y'all finish up doing everything effectually the store (handling customers, agreement how shifts are gear up, organizing, doing inventory, etc.), then the job duties won't exist too bad. The trouble with becoming a shift supervisor is that you lot dramatically limit who can cover shifts for you lot if you need that. As a barista, anyone in your district can take your shift if you lot need them to. Shift supervisors, though, can only be covered by other shift supervisors.
I'll besides note that y'all Really accept to purchase into Starbucks civilisation to make information technology anywhere past shift supervisor. IMO it's not quite worth it; corporate does proficient stuff for their employees, simply a lot of it isn't as helpful as really taking care of them. Healthcare requires twenty hours/week minimum and corporate won't budge fifty-fifty if y'all're just 15 minutes short; they cutting hours quite a flake and enhance prices without giving wage increases to workers; they focus too much on turn a profit to the point where information technology'south practically impossible to staff a store properly, which then makes drinks take longer to make, which causes turn a profit to go downwardly.
Information technology typically takes ii-3 months to really get comfortable with the drink recipes, merely it helps to remember that they're all formulas. I had a shift supervisor write the amounts on various loving cup sizes for me and studied them in one case a day, it helped a ton.

Only during Happy Hour, otherwise it'south whatever.I take no thought, but is a string of frappe orders as soul sucking equally it looks?

Only during Happy Hr, otherwise it's whatever.
Makes sense.
I feel like the worst Starbucks to work at are Safeway or Target. I unremarkably run across similar one person manning the Starbucks, maybe ii if you're lucky, and you still get quite the foot traffic.

I have no idea, but is a string of frappe orders as soul sucking every bit it looks?
Frappy hr, or when they're a ton of different flavors at once. You're not supposed to alloy more 1 frap at a time, but many baristas volition when there'south a rush of the same kind in a row, so having minor changes can be frustrating when it's decorated, haha.
